St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church invites you to celebrate Pentecost with us on this Sunday, June 8. Pentecost marks the moment when the Holy Spirit came to a small group of Jesus’ followers—huddled in fear in a single room—and transformed them with courage and clarity. Empowered by the Spirit, they went out to share the message of Christ and became the foundation of what we now know as the Christian Church.
This moment reminds us of the power of the Holy Spirit to move us forward with confidence to share our faith – a powerful message in these uncertain and divided times. Pentecost is a celebration of renewal, boldness, and the unifying power of the Spirit.
On this special Sunday, we invite everyone to “Wear Red,” symbolizing the presence of the Holy Spirit. A congregation filled with red serves as a visible reminder of the passion and purpose that continue to guide us today.
And just for fun—because it’s the church’s birthday, join us for cake after the service. Remember the 11th commandment: “Calories consumed in church don’t count.”
Bring your loved ones, wear red, and join us at St. Matthew’s for a meaningful Pentecost weekend. We look forward to sharing it with you.
