Take the Next Step

” Life is short, and we do not have much time to gladden the hearts of those who make the journey with us. So… be swift to love, and make haste to be kind. And the blessing of God,who made us,who loves us,and who travels with us be with you now and forever.” Based on the words of Henri Frederic Amiel

We want to join you on your faith journey. Here are a few of the ways you can respond to God’s love.

Request A Prayer

Prayer is the opening of the direct relationship between God and humanity. Jesus teaches us to come before God with humble hearts, boldly offering our thanksgivings and concerns to God or simply listening for God’s voice in our lives and in the world. If you would like to request a prayer for yourself or others, click the button below.

Join A Ministry

There are over 20 active ministries at St Matthews. Whether you have minutes or hours to give, we welcome you to be part of our current activities. Or, if you feel called to start up a new ministry, we would love to hear about it.

The Way of Love

The Way of Love is a way of life practiced by the Episcopal Church Worldwide. More than a program or curriculum, it is an intentional commitment to a set of practices.

It's a commitment to follow Jesus: Turn, Learn, Pray, Worship, Bless, Go, Rest.

Get Baptized

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church joyfully welcomes new members into the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ through the sacrament of Holy Baptism, which we give to both infants and adults.

Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ's Body, the church. The bond which God creates in Baptism cannot be broken. The sacrament of Baptism is a Holy Mystery, which means we can understand the meaning of the act without ever fully comprehending the depths of its significance. Baptism is one of the two Sacraments of the Episcopal Church, and it brings full membership into the Church, including participation in Holy Communion.

Candidates are sponsored by parents and godparents—or in the case of an adult, presented by a beloved friend or family member—and are surrounded and affirmed by the congregation. Accordingly, all baptisms take place during public worship.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the adult affirmation of the Baptismal Vows. It means that you are ready to accept the responsibility for your own Christian growth, and you say that in public in the presence of the Bishop.

Confirmation does not mean that you have all the answers…just that you are going to start searching for them yourself. At St Matthew's the youth confirmation class meets for about a year with Reverend Stephanie, attends church, has service projects, and learns more about the bible and the responsibilities of church membership. At the end of that time there is a special Confirmation service with the Bishop.

Become a Member

We hope you have enjoyed worshiping with us and we are excited about your consideration of joining St Matthew’s.
