How do children learn what it means to follow Jesus? Not through lectures or memorization, but through story, play, and community—through the shared practice of asking questions, exploring scripture, and discovering together that they are deeply loved by God.
At St. Matthew’s, Sunday School is a cherished part of our ministry, creating space for children to grow in their understanding of faith and their place in the Church’s story.
This Sunday, October 12th, Sunday School begins for the academic year, welcoming children ages 3-12 to explore God’s love in an engaging, age-appropriate environment.
Sunday School Details
When: Second Sunday of each month
Time: Right after the 10:00 AM service (approximately 10:45 AM)
Duration: 30 minutes
Who: Children ages 3-12
We’ve designed this rhythm to be sustainable and meaningful—once a month, consistent and predictable, allowing children to build relationships and grow in their faith without overwhelming busy family schedules. Each session will explore scripture through stories, activities, and conversation that helps young hearts see how God’s love shows up in their everyday lives.
Learning About the Eucharist
For those curious about the heart of Episcopal worship, we also offer “Learning about the Eucharist” on the fourth Sunday of each month, also following the 10:00 AM service.
This is a wonderful opportunity for newcomers to The Episcopal Church, those preparing for Confirmation, or anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of Holy Communion—what we do, why we do it, and how this ancient practice nourishes our faith today.
Adult Formation Opportunities
While Sunday School is designed specifically for children, St. Matthew’s offers periodic Adult Bible Studies and formation opportunities throughout the year. Stay tuned for upcoming sessions, or contact the church office to learn more about current adult learning opportunities.
Creating Space for Young Faith
St. Matthew’s is committed to creating a safe and encouraging environment where children can grow in faith, ask honest questions, and discover that they belong to a community that loves and supports them.
Whether your child has been coming to St. Matthew’s for years or is visiting for the first time, they are welcome here.
Join us this Sunday, October 12th, as Sunday School begins for the year.
