Remembering Those Who Walked Before Us

When you come to worship this Sunday, November 2nd, you’ll be joining something much larger than what you can see—a great company of people across generations who have sought to love and trust God.

That’s the heart of All Saints’ Day: a time to remember and give thanks for those who’ve gone before us—the ones whose faith, love, and courage shaped our lives and still inspire us today.

More Than Famous Names

All Saints’ isn’t only about well-known figures like Francis of Assisi or Julian of Norwich. It’s about ordinary people who lived with quiet faithfulness—your grandmother who prayed with you, the friend who stayed hopeful through hardship, the neighbor who quietly cared for others.

Each life, however small it may seem, becomes part of this great communion that binds us together in love.

The Great Communion

When we gather in worship, we are not alone. We’re surrounded by what Scripture calls “a great cloud of witnesses”—those whose lives continue to echo through ours. The veil between heaven and earth grows thin, and for a moment, it feels as though we are all together again.

A Living Legacy

All Saints’ Day reminds us that love and faith outlast death. Those who came before us still shape us, and one day, we’ll do the same for others.

Take a moment this week to remember someone who strengthened your faith or showed you kindness. Give thanks for them—and know that they are still with us in God’s eternal love.
