There’s something deeply human about gathering around a table to share a meal. It’s where strangers become friends, where stories are told, where we slow down long enough to see each other. And this Sunday at 11:00 AM, we’re setting a table with you in mind.
Our Harvest Potluck isn’t just for church members. It’s not just for longtime parishioners or people who know all the words to the liturgy. It’s for you—whether you’ve been coming to St. Matthew’s for years or you’re visiting for the first time. Whether you’re certain about faith or full of questions. Whether you come alone or bring your whole family.
The invitation is simple and sincere: come as you are.
No RSVP needed. No expectations. No insider knowledge required. Just show up, and there will be a place for you at the table. Because that’s what tables do—they make room. They create space for one more chair, one more plate, one more person who deserves to be seen and welcomed.
We’ll provide the main dish. If you’d like to bring a side dish or dessert to share, wonderful—we’d love to taste what you make. But if you can’t, or if you’re deciding at the last minute to join us, come anyway. There will be plenty.
This is what we mean when we say “all are welcome” at St. Matthew’s. It’s not just words on a website. It’s a potluck where the table stretches as wide as it needs to. It’s a community that believes everyone—yes, everyone—is created in the image of God and deserves a seat at the feast.
In the Episcopal tradition, we often talk about the “open table” at communion, where all baptized Christians are welcome to receive the bread and wine. This Sunday’s potluck is the same spirit, just with casseroles and pies. It’s a table that says: you belong here, not because you’ve earned it or proved yourself worthy, but simply because you’re here.
Harvest season reminds us that abundance isn’t about scarcity or exclusion—it’s about gathering what’s been given and sharing it generously. It’s about recognizing that there’s enough to go around when we come together with open hands and open hearts.
So whether you’re a longtime member of St. Matthew’s, a curious newcomer, a friend of a friend, or someone driving by on Highland Drive who sees our sign—consider this your personal invitation. Come and see what it feels like to be welcomed without condition. Come and taste the goodness of a community that genuinely means it when we say there’s room for you.
The service starts at 10:00 AM this Sunday. The potluck follows immediately after. The table is set. The place is yours.
We hope to see you there.
