St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church joyfully celebrated a remarkable milestone on August 18th as beloved member Nancy Dowding turned 100 years young.
Known for her quick wit and infectious spirit, Nancy brings laughter and light to all. When asked to say a few words during the service, she quipped, “Someone asked me what is the secret of living to 100, and I told them ‘Just Don’t Die!’” Her humor and zest for life were evident throughout the celebration as friends, family, and parishioners gathered to honor her.
Nancy’s dedication to St. Matthew’s has been unwavering and her involvement still enriches our lives today. In another story, she said that she once told a Rector that she wanted to help and had the means to do so. He responded by asking “Just how much means do you have?” The result was her payment for the installation of the exterior ramp which provides a safe entryway to the church for individuals who cannot climb stairs.
Nancy inspires us, and we look forward to many more birthday celebrations with Nancy.
